Oil & Gas

Viatran is the world leader in the design and manufacture of pressure transmitters for the secondary oil and gas recovery industry (i.e., fracturing, acidizing and cementing). Other applications include controlling the hydraulic drilling pressure downhole, rig safety, flow line pressure, additive metering pumps, subsea injection valves and well clean outs.

Viatran's expertise in oil and gas means that we can put our knowhow to work for you. We have several application notes - two of which are featured below.

Dual Pump Cement Truck Applications

An oil well completion company approached Viatran to solve a troublesome pressureapplication. They have been using the Viatran Model 509 pressure transmitter for years with great success in their hydraulic fracing operation. They asked Viatran to recommend a pressure transmitter for use on a dual cement pump truck for a 160 PSI (11 bar) measurement. To find out how Viatran was able to solve this particular pressure measurement problem, click on Dual Pump Cement Truck Application.

 Promoting Rig Safety

Pressure transmitters play a major role in maintaining safety on an oil rig. In order to monitor product, process and hydraulic pressures, transmitters are need to trigger safety shutdowns when hazardous conditions are detected. There are many specific pressure transmitter applications on oil rigs, including measuring ballast tank levels and hydraulic pressure on jack-up drilling rigs. Transmitters also measure the pressures on platform flow lines, additive metering pumps, subsea injection valves and well cleanouts. Oil rig environments vary from the North Slope of Alaska to the Sahara Desert. Process instruments must be able to withstand constant subjection to changing temperature, humidity, corrosion, vibration and shock.
